Building a houseboat

I'm planning a new houseboat build with my wife and I want to go full aluminum for the pontoons. She says she doesn't know stuff but she's arguing with me on the wall thickness and whether to go with 3 or 5 sealed chambers per log. My hard-headed wife. What do you guys think?

I'd hate to pick sides on this kind of debate, but she's kinda right. 1/8 inch thick aluminum is a good choice along with 5 chambers per platoon. Better be safe than sorry.

Are you planning on cruising often or staying mostly docked? More chambers add safety if one's breached, but they cost more. What's your target weight load and water conditions like?
