I broke things off with my girlfriend after she said my plan to live full-time on our houseboat meant I was going nowhere. She claimed without a real house, I'd never succeed, yet out here, drifting with the current, I feel more anchored than I ever did on land...I mean who decides what "making it" really means?

Sounds like youre finding a sense of freedom and stability on the water that a traditional life never gave you, and that counts for something real. Success isnt just measured by a house or a conventional path, its about what makes you feel grounded and fulfilled, and if the houseboat life does that, you're already living your version of "making it."

Sounds like you dodged a bullet my man. My definition of making it in life is living the way you want to and have envisioned. If you're after a life on the boat, then that's your way of making it in life. In the journey, you ether find someone who shares your passion or not. Someone better will come along eventually.
