Great to be here hoping to get some advice and ideas, Im in the design stage of my Houseboat Project which is small boat for essentially 2 people perhaps max 4, still make it trailerable so lots of challenges.
So my first question is about motor height, I have followed most of the basic principles for setting the outboard height but i think, and i hope someone will help me. That this motor can be higher. My thought is that because this is two pontoons with the outboard mounted in the centre i don't really need the anti - ventilation plate to be within 50mm of the bottom of the hull because there is no hull directly in front of the outboard, Further that this is a houseboat and not designed to be up and planing so i doubt i will have any high in the water cavitation issues. I have designed the transom to be in the water but nowhere near the bottom of the hull, so im thinking i can raise this motor so my anti-ventilation plate is close to the bottom of my transom and this would leave my prop still below the bottom of the pontoon by about half and leave the idle port more than the 150mm minimum above the water line.
Thankfully im in the modelling stage so i can make changes easily, i have included a few pictures of my model which may show what im asking a little better.
